A fix is available in Linux kernel version 6.12.111 and later. Users should upgrade to version 6.12.111 or later to address this issue. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel update.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem involves the sched_process_wait tracepoint argument being improperly marked as non-nullable. This allows the BPF verifier to accept unchecked dereferences of a pointer that can be NULL, potentially causing a NULL pointer dereference in JITed BPF code when waiting for any child process. The issue is fixed by marking the argument as nullable, causing the verifier to reject unsafe dereferences unless the pointer is explicitly checked for NULL.
