AI-suggested
A fix for this issue has been implemented in the Linux kernel scheduler to skip migrate-disabled tasks when picking push candidates, preventing the retry loop. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel scheduler's real-time (RT) task balancing logic causes a CPU to spend excessive time in a retry loop attempting to push a migrate-disabled RT task to another CPU. The scheduler incorrectly keeps such tasks on the pushable list and marks the CPU as RT-overloaded, leading to repeated failed push attempts and significant CPU time wasted on these retries. This results in reduced CPU availability for actual work and can degrade real-time performance.
