AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel updates that address this issue. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on applying the updated kernel versions. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; users should consult the vendor advisory for the latest remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem was resolved where active device pointers were not restored after a failed sprout operation. This flaw could cause the system to dereference freed device pointers and crash. The issue occurs when the kernel switches device pointers to a new device before writable chunks are created, and if that process fails, the pointers are not switched back properly.
