A fix is available in the Linux kernel versions identified by the fixed commit hashes. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's btrfs filesystem was fixed that involved improper detachment of a failed sprout device from the transaction update list. If the system chunk creation fails after adding a new device, the device is released while still linked in the transaction list, causing a warning and leaving references to freed memory. The fix ensures the device is properly detached while holding the chunk_mutex before release.
