A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the relevant patches identified by the fixed commit hashes. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's af_packet subsystem involves improper casting of the tpacket_hdr.tp_len field from u32 to int in the tpacket_parse_header() function. This can cause incorrect length checks and lead to negative values being returned, triggering a kernel BUG in sock_sendmsg_nosec(). The issue was reported by syzbot and fixed in subsequent kernel commits.
