AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this correction to ensure that DACL parsing errors are properly handled and malformed security descriptors are rejected. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component allowed parse_dacl() to silently accept truncated Access Control Entries (ACEs) and allocation failures, causing set_info_sec() to proceed with incomplete Access Control List (ACL) conversions. This flaw could result in malformed security descriptors being applied to inode attributes or ACL extended attributes. The issue has been resolved by ensuring that parsing and allocation errors are returned to parse_sec_desc(), preventing malformed security descriptors from being accepted.
