AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by modifying the readahead buffer handling to load all folios upfront and manage references more efficiently. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix once available. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

CVE-2026-98118 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfs component related to readahead synchronization. The issue arises from synchronization problems when the application thread adds folios to a rolling buffer while the collector thread processes them. The vulnerability has been fixed by changing the rolling buffer loader to load all folios upfront, simplifying buffer handling and preventing race conditions.
