A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit hashes. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes to remediate the issue.

Description

A null pointer dereference vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's netfs subsystem. This occurs when netfs_alloc_subrequest() fails and returns NULL, but subsequent code in netfs_prepare_write() attempts to access members of this NULL pointer, leading to a crash. The issue has been fixed in specific commits.
