A fix is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that address this issue to ensure the HasEA flag is correctly managed. Since this is a kernel-level fix, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS implementation was resolved where the HasEA flag was incorrectly updated on failure of the setxattr operation. This flaw caused existing on-disk extended attributes (EAs) to be hidden until the inode was evicted. The issue was fixed by updating the HasEA flag only on successful setxattr operations.
