AI-suggested

A fix is available in Linux kernel versions 5.12 and 5.11 (specific commits and versions listed). Users and administrators should upgrade to these fixed versions or later to mitigate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drop_monitor subsystem was fixed by changing the timer cleanup method to prevent timer rearming during module teardown. The flaw allowed a timer to fire after its associated memory was freed, potentially causing a kernel panic.
