A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to the fixed kernel versions identified by commits 8879e3e0a84a86954c855caceead4867e74a9a27 and 5a5cfd8488c97e1b8939515429fe4c81e9f2df4f. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth drivers btmtksdio and btmtkuart allows reading beyond the end of a received WMT event structure due to insufficient length validation before accessing struct fields. This flaw can cause improper memory access when processing short or malformed WMT events. The issue has been fixed by adding proper length validation and adjusting handling of short FUNC_CTRL events. The fix has been verified on several MediaTek chipsets without regression.
