A fix for this vulnerability is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to mitigate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
CVE-2026-98312 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA 6fire driver that causes an out-of-bounds (OOB) write due to improper handling of device-reported isochronous packet lengths. The flaw arises when the calculation of outgoing packet sizes uses an unsigned subtraction that can wrap around, leading to a buffer overflow in a 4832-byte buffer. This issue can cause kernel memory corruption and potentially a kernel panic. The vulnerability has been fixed in multiple Linux kernel commits.
