A patch fixing this issue is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 6.18.54 and 7.2.8. Users and maintainers should upgrade to these or later kernel versions to prevent system resets caused by this vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required once the patch is applied.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/msm/dp driver causes the system to reset silently when DisplayPort link training fails and the driver attempts an unconditional PUSH_IDLE operation. This occurs because the driver writes a PUSH_IDLE command even when the link was never enabled, leading to a timeout and subsequent TrustZone forced stops of remote processors, resulting in a system reset. The issue affects certain Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms and specific devices like the ASUS Zenbook A16. A patch has been applied to gate the PUSH_IDLE write on the power_on flag, preventing the reset and ensuring safe teardown after failed link training.
