This vulnerability has been fixed in several Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. No additional mitigations are specified by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-98320 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter flowtable component. The issue involves premature release of the connection tracking (ct) extension area, which can lead to referencing incorrect conntrack entries due to improper RCU semantics. The flaw is fixed by holding a reference on the ct until the flow is released after the RCU grace period and adding an rcu_barrier() on module exit to ensure proper cleanup.
