AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to remove stale virtual interfaces during netdev unregistration in ndo_uninit. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Since no vendor advisory or patch links are provided here, check the Linux kernel mailing lists or distribution security advisories for the relevant patched kernel versions and update accordingly.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 wireless subsystem can cause a kernel BUG due to improper handling of virtual interfaces (vifs) when their network device (netdev) is unregistered. This occurs if the netdev is unregistered without going through the usual interface removal process, potentially leading to a stale interface reference and a kernel crash.
