A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel versions identified by commits 9fa903b24b1f46b4ff5443bcd4aca23e5c57f9c1 and 8d85d6bc9c46dc41cb2be0eac53f8ab068c3a807. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes these fixes to remediate the vulnerability.
Description
CVE-2026-98364 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xfrm subsystem related to handling net_device references during bundle creation. The flaw occurs because xfrm_bundle_create() and xfrm_create_dummy_bundle() read a device pointer without properly holding a reference, allowing a concurrent device removal to free the object while still in use. This leads to a kernel memory corruption detected by KASAN. The issue is fixed by changing the code to use RCU mechanisms to safely hold the device reference during processing.
