AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. The vulnerability is resolved by rewriting the mr_check_range() function to perform overflow-safe range validation. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions identified by the commit hashes provided in the established facts. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

CVE-2026-98365 is a critical vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RDMA rxe driver where an integer overflow in the mr_check_range() function allows an out-of-bounds (OOB) read/write. This occurs because the original range check uses wraparound-prone arithmetic, enabling a remote unauthenticated peer to craft RDMA requests that bypass validation and cause kernel memory corruption and a kernel oops. The vulnerability is fixed by rewriting the range check to be overflow-safe, preventing the OOB access and causing the responder to report an error instead.
