A fix is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit versions. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the fix identified by commits da56d0ee93d1bad779b0486f2fab92d1bc1f0cf3, d042487dc118e494db2e2c1382310255c90ff544, or 7e1c6884a0b494b7e3f204877f94c1e07a117bf7. Until updated, avoid exposure to untrusted IP-TFS traffic to mitigate triggering this vulnerability.
Description
A stack out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's xfrm iptfs module in the function iptfs_skb_reset_frag_walk(). This occurs due to an unbounded loop advancing a fragment index without proper bounds checking, leading to reading beyond the allocated stack array. The flaw can be triggered by a crafted IP-TFS payload delivered to an IPTFS Security Association, causing a kernel memory safety violation. The issue is fixed by adding an upfront guard in iptfs_skb_can_add_frags() to prevent out-of-range access.
