A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to the fixed kernel version to remediate this vulnerability. Since the fix is official and included in the kernel source, applying the updated kernel version 6.10 with the patch is the recommended mitigation.
Description
CVE-2026-98376 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel version 6.10 involving the handling of percpu array inner maps in the BPF subsystem. The flaw arises because the generic bpf_map_meta_equal() function does not compare the max_entries field, allowing an attacker to replace a percpu array inner map with one having fewer max_entries. This can lead to out-of-bounds access in percpu_array_map_gen_lookup() due to an inlined index_mask used as a JIT immediate. The issue is fixed by pointing percpu_array_map_ops.map_meta_equal to array_map_meta_equal(), which enforces max_entries equality. A selftest was added to ensure replacement with differently sized percpu array inner maps is rejected.
