A fix has been implemented and merged into the Linux kernel, as indicated by the fixed commit hashes. Users should update to the patched Linux kernel versions that include these commits to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe component allows asynchronous dropping of runtime power management (PM) references during virtual machine (VM) teardown. This can cause the device to autosuspend while stale page faults from the now-terminated VM are still queued, leading to assertion failures and warnings when the page-fault worker attempts to acknowledge these faults on a suspended device. The issue is addressed by holding a runtime PM reference across the entire pagefault queue worker to prevent device autosuspension during fault processing.
