AI-suggested

A patch is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits. Systems running the affected version 5.16 should update to a fixed kernel version containing these commits. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's s390 boot code could cause a buffer overflow when appending IPL parameters to the command line if the command line occupies all but the terminating byte of the buffer. This flaw has been fixed by changing how IPL parameters are appended or replaced in the command line buffer.
