A fix for this issue is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by multiple fixed commit versions. Users and administrators should update to a kernel version that includes the fix (commits da2ca406f45a6e21760243152ed8d2e8e72915c2 and others). No additional mitigation is required as the patch safely prevents the warning by checking interface presence before driver calls.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 wireless subsystem could cause a warning (WARN_ONCE) in the driver when setting the bitrate mask if the wireless interface is marked running but not yet fully registered in the driver. This occurs because ieee80211_set_bitrate_mask() does not verify that the interface is still present in the driver before calling driver operations. The issue is triggered by certain wireless ioctl calls during interface teardown or early bringup stages. The fix adds a check for the interface presence in the driver and returns an error to avoid the warning.
