AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue by changing the order of operations in rds_ib_map_frmr(). Users should update to the patched kernel version containing this fix. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rds_ib_map_frmr() function was resolved. The issue occurs when DMA mapping fails but the scatterlist pointer remains stored in the memory region (MR) structure, leading to a dangling pointer. This can cause local privilege escalation detected by KASAN during MR teardown.
