This vulnerability has been fixed in multiple Linux kernel commits as listed in the established facts. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. Patch status is confirmed by the fixed commits. No additional mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-98555 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting version 2.6.12. It involves use-after-free (UAF) and memory leaks in the llc subsystem when the function llc_mac_hdr_init() fails. Specifically, improper freeing of socket buffers (skb) leads to leaks, reads from freed memory, and double-free conditions. The issue has been fixed in several Linux kernel commits.
