A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit versions. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version including these fixes to prevent exploitation of this issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's GRE networking code allows enabling metadata collection on existing GRE, GRETAP, or ERSPAN devices through changelink operations without enforcing metadata tunnel uniqueness. This can cause metadata receive entries to be overwritten or cleared improperly, breaking metadata lookup functionality for surviving devices. The issue is fixed by rejecting metadata mode enablement in changelink callbacks before modifying tunnel parameters.
