AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to prevent insertion of new exceptions for fib6_info structures that are being destroyed. Users should update to the fixed kernel version once available. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 routing code allowed a reference cycle to form between fib6_info structures and exception routes during route removal, causing resource leaks and stalling network device unregistration. This was due to improper handling of exception insertion for dying fib6_info objects. The issue has been resolved by adding a check to prevent new exceptions from being inserted during fib6_info destruction.
