A fix is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 3.11, 3.13, and specific commits identified by their hashes. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

A livelock vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation was fixed. The function sctp_assoc_update_retran_path() could enter an infinite loop when all remaining transports, including the retransmit path, were in an UNCONFIRMED state. This flaw was addressed by changing the loop logic to consider only confirmed transports and restoring a NULL guard to prevent invalid retransmit path assignments.
