AI-suggested
A fix is available that properly serializes the destination page cache by holding the invalidate_lock during flush and invalidation steps and draining outstanding I/O before issuing the server-side copy/clone ioctl. Users should apply the official Linux kernel update that addresses this issue. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client implementation related to server-side copy and clone operations could cause file corruption. The issue arises because the destination page cache is not properly serialized against server-side copy operations, allowing asynchronous writeback to overwrite newly copied data. This flaw has been fixed by ensuring proper locking and draining of in-flight I/O before issuing server-side copy or clone commands.
