AI-suggested

The vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 6.2 and 6.7, as well as in specific commits identified by their hashes. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel SMB client was fixed where the pagecache beyond the end-of-file (EOF) was not properly discarded when extending a file via clone range. This could cause data dirtied past EOF through mmap to become visible as file content after the file extension.
