AI-suggested
A fix is available that zero-initializes the typec_partner_desc structure in the tps6598x_connect() function. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this patch. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB Type-C driver (tipd) was resolved by zero-initializing the typec_partner_desc structure in the tps6598x_connect() function. The flaw involved uninitialized fields in a stack-allocated descriptor, which could lead to garbage function pointers being stored and potentially invoked, as well as leaking stack data via sysfs. This issue was fixed by ensuring all fields are properly zero-initialized before use.
