AI-suggested

A fix is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit versions. The vulnerability is resolved by dropping oversized fragments that would cause the length overflow, preventing the kernel crash. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits 9338b2dea74cb0fc80a4c958b68e687610ba2261, 870b8cb9baa9bd859deceb33ae158011e6ba2360, or 5e4f3509793b4db2c0835340224743db680e861f. No additional mitigation is required once patched.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 Wi-Fi subsystem allows oversized fragmented frames to cause an overflow in a 16-bit length field, leading to a kernel crash. The issue arises because the sum of fragment lengths can exceed the maximum value of a 16-bit unsigned integer, causing an integer overflow and buffer overflow during packet reassembly. This flaw has been fixed by dropping oversized fragments to prevent the overflow.
