AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability is available as it has been resolved in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes the fix rejecting oversized playback packets in the ALSA line6 driver. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or necessary once the patch is applied.

Description

A vulnerability in the ALSA line6 driver in the Linux kernel allows oversized playback packets to be processed without proper size validation, leading to out-of-bounds memory writes. This occurs because the driver does not verify that the number of bytes written fits within the allocated buffer slice, potentially causing memory corruption. The flaw arises from a mismatch in packet size calculations between IN and OUT USB endpoints. This issue has been resolved by rejecting packets that exceed the allocated buffer size.
