A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel source (multiple commits listed). Users should update to a kernel version including these fixes to prevent kernel crashes caused by this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's freevxfs filesystem code caused a kernel crash (BUG) when encountering an unknown typed-extent type during ioctl(FIBMAP) operations on regular files. The issue was fixed by replacing the BUG() call with a WARN_ON_ONCE() and returning an error code, preventing kernel crashes.
