AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. The priority drop now occurs immediately after interrupt acknowledgment rather than during irq_eoi(), preventing the blocking of interrupts. Users should update to the fixed Linux kernel version 6.17 or later containing the commits c29bb5acd0cad0b49399d1399dd1bacb39e41438 and abf60331ebe9a9a7937a72aac7699c2907ab9307.

Description

CVE-2026-98878 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's irqchip/gic-v5 driver where interrupts of equal or lower priority cannot be signaled until a priority drop occurs. This behavior can cause a denial of service by blocking incoming interrupts during long-running processes or virtual machine operations. The issue was fixed by changing when the priority drop occurs, moving it to immediately after interrupt acknowledgment rather than at the end of interrupt handling.
