AI-suggested
A fix is available that adds validation to the MMC core to detect and reject zero-length scatter-gather lists derived from max_segs. Systems should apply the official Linux kernel patches containing the commits identified by the fixedVersions hashes. This ensures the MMC core fails gracefully instead of crashing. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel MMC core allows a host driver to set an excessively large max_segs value, which can be truncated to zero. This causes a zero-size memory allocation that leads to invalid memory access and a kernel crash. The issue is fixed by adding validation to reject zero-length scatter-gather lists, preventing the crash and allowing host driver developers to correct their configurations.
