AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to correctly handle reentered kprobes during single-stepping on arm64 architectures and preserve interrupt state across nested kprobes. Users should update to the fixed kernel version once it is released. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel patch when available.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel arm64 kprobes subsystem allowed improper handling of reentered kprobes during single-stepping, potentially causing incorrect interrupt state handling. The issue was that a kprobe hit in the KPROBE_HIT_SS state was treated as unrecoverable, leading to permanent interrupt disablement in some cases. This has been fixed by allowing reentry in KPROBE_HIT_SS to be handled correctly and preserving the interrupt state across nested kprobes.
