Description

CVE-2026-98999 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe subsystem involving stale pinned_link entries when framebuffer pin operations perform the final unpin. This flaw can lead to use-after-free memory corruption due to a stale list entry pointing into freed memory after certain unpin sequences. The issue arises from inconsistent handling of the pinned_link list across different pin/unpin code paths. A fix has been implemented to unify the pinned_link removal in a single function executed on the final unpin, preventing stale entries.
