AI-suggested

A fix is available in Linux kernel versions 6.6.160, 6.12.113, 6.18.57, and 7.2.11 and later. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation is required as the patch safely serializes hardware access during GPU reset.

Description

CVE-2026-99090 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMDGPU driver where vblank counter reads are not properly serialized against GPU resets. This can cause unsafe hardware access during GPU recovery, triggering kernel warnings and tainting the kernel. The issue is fixed by acquiring a semaphore before hardware access or returning a cached software count if reset is in progress.
