This vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 6.18.59 and 7.2.13. Users and administrators should update to these or later versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patches.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's p54 wifi firmware parser allows reading beyond record boundaries due to insufficient validation of firmware record lengths. This flaw could cause the parser to read past the intended data fields when processing malformed firmware records. The issue has been addressed by validating component ID and version record lengths and rejecting descriptor values that cause underflow or empty ranges.
