AI-suggested

A fix has been applied in the Linux kernel source to replace ASSERTs with proper NULL checks and add necessary guards. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions once available. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel patches or upgrading to a kernel version containing the fix is the recommended mitigation.

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's drm/amd/display USB4 bandwidth functions. The issue arises because ASSERT checks on stream->sink are compiled out in production, allowing a NULL stream->sink to cause a NULL pointer dereference. The fix replaces ASSERTs with proper NULL checks and adds guards to prevent dereferencing a NULL sink.
