AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to check the per-CPU register page before referencing it and to return VM_FAULT_SIGBUS if the page is absent. Users should apply the updated kernel version containing this fix once available. No other mitigation actions are indicated.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mshv_vtl component involves improper checking of per-CPU register pages before memory mapping. The issue arises because the global flag indicating register page presence can be set even if some CPUs lack a register page, leading to a NULL pointer dereference when userspace faults in that mapping. This flaw has been resolved by adding a check for the selected per-CPU register page before referencing it, returning a VM_FAULT_SIGBUS error if absent.
