A fix for this vulnerability is available in updated Linux kernel versions that ensure atomic state transitions when handling replaced pipe notification errors in autofs. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. No additional mitigation actions are required as the issue is resolved by the patch.

Description

CVE-2026-99181 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the autofs subsystem where notification errors from a replaced pipe were not properly handled. This flaw could cause denial of service of the shared autofs service during a legitimate daemon restart.
