AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel to reject asymmetric restriction keys without key IDs. Users should update to a fixed kernel version to remediate this issue. Since the vulnerability is resolved by rejecting invalid keys, no additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel asymmetric_keys subsystem allows unprivileged users to trigger a NULL pointer dereference by supplying PKCS#8 keys without IDs. This occurs because the PKCS#8 parser leaves the asym_key_ids payload empty, and the kernel code unconditionally dereferences this slot, leading to a kernel panic and potential denial of service.
