A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a patched kernel version to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation is required once the kernel is updated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's io_uring/io-wq subsystem could cause threads to hang indefinitely when performing asynchronous open operations on FIFOs without a writer. This occurs because a signal intended to wake worker threads during shutdown can be lost if the work has not started, leading to threads stuck in exit. The issue has been resolved by ensuring the signal is properly set and observed for bounded work during io-wq exit.
