AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel versions listed as affected. Users should update to patched kernel versions to prevent exploitation. Since this is a kernel-level flaw, applying the official kernel updates from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel tracing subsystem allows incorrect modification of synthetic event reference counts due to insufficient verification of event identity. This can lead to use-after-free conditions when histograms are registered and unregistered on non-synthetic events with basenames matching synthetic events.
