Description

CVE-2024-38097 is a high-severity elevation of privilege vulnerability in Microsoft Azure Monitor Agent caused by improper link resolution before file access (CWE-59). This flaw could allow an attacker with limited privileges to escalate their privileges by exploiting the way symbolic links are handled. The vulnerability affects version 1.0.0 of the Azure Monitor Agent. Microsoft has issued an official fix for this vulnerability. Since Azure Monitor is a cloud service, Microsoft manages the remediation on the server side. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.
