Description

Denial of service vulnerabilities in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software allow an unauthenticated attacker with network access to cause a denial of service condition by sending specially crafted network traffic to or through a dataplane interface. Repeated exploitation causes the firewall to enter maintenance mode. Cloud NGFW and Panorama products are not affected by this issue.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-0321 describes denial of service vulnerabilities in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software. An unauthenticated attacker with network access can send specially crafted packets to or through a dataplane interface, triggering a denial of service condition. Repeated attempts cause the firewall to enter maintenance mode, disrupting normal operation. The vulnerability does not affect Cloud NGFW or Panorama products. No patch or remediation information is provided in the available data.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in denial of service by forcing the firewall into maintenance mode, potentially disrupting network security operations. The attacker requires only network access and no authentication, increasing the risk of exploitation. However, no known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or patch information is provided, administrators should monitor Palo Alto Networks advisories for updates. Cloud NGFW and Panorama users are not affected and require no action.
