A coordinated cyberattack targeted operational technology (OT) systems at more than 30 municipal water and wastewater utilities in Minnesota, disrupting automated control functions. Some water plants, such as in Braham, were briefly taken offline, affecting water treatment and urging residents to minimize water use. The attacks primarily impacted equipment connected via cellular communications. Drinking water remained safe and most operations continued. No formal attribution has been made, though Iranian-linked groups have been suggested as possible actors.
