Fake-download campaign uses trojanized installers to deliver monetization payloads

Microsoft Threat Intelligence identified an evolving campaign targeting users searching for cracked commercial software, free games, activators, and unofficial utilities. The operation uses trojanized Inno Setup-style installers to distribute multiple monetized software payloads through a per-offer callback and status-tracking system. Three downstream monetization branches transform affected devices into monetized assets: routing third-party internet traffic through the device via WorldProxyPool, enrolling devices in distributed-computing platforms through CharityEngine and BOINC, or installing utility-style software such as Advanced Windows Manager.
