AI-suggested

Red Hat advises avoiding calls to erase_if() on __gnu_pbds::priority_queue containers using the binary_heap_tag backend. Applications requiring predicate-based removal should use alternative containers or different heap backends. A fixed package is being developed and should be applied once available. No other mitigations are currently known.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability exists in the GNU Compiler Collection's libstdc++ pb_ds binary heap implementation. Specifically, when the erase_if() function is called on a __gnu_pbds::priority_queue using the binary_heap_tag backend, the internal pointer is not updated after reallocating storage. This can lead to heap memory corruption, causing application crashes or destabilization (denial of service). Exploitation requires the application to use this non-default container type and invoke erase_if(), with no known default vulnerable path in shipped packages. Red Hat rates the impact as moderate due to this limited reachability.
